HEATHER MICHELE COHEN – THIS GIRLʼS GONE WILD by Nashville Concert Photography Examiner Bob Algie
JULY 10, 2010 – Nashville Much of the time on our nightly haunts to the various Music Venues in Nashville we see and hear the same old thing. Usually greatto fairly outstanding we all love these ʻguitar-vocalʼ events. This particular evening I had the opportunity to venture over to Pickʼs (http://www.myspace.com/picksnashville) located in the Best Western MusicRow just off Demonbreun St. What I was able to witness was Heather Michele Cohen (http://www.myspace.com/heathermichelecohen) with a complete band. She rocked the place to be sure. Before they got started Heather Michele told me she hadnʼt rehearsed or performed with these particular band members so theremight be some rough spots. This is one of the ways to separate the pros from the amateurs. Heather Michele Cohen is deﬁnitely a pro. During the set I donʼt recall anyone missing a beat including John Smith (Lead Guitar) Pete Lockwood (Bass) Jake Gammon (Drums) and Mark Vikingstad (Acoustic and Electric Rhythm Guitar and Vocals.)They were ON. Hard to believe there was no rehearsal. Heather Michele Cohen took us on a wonderful emotional journey. Great stage presence, super lyrics, understandable andenjoyable story lines. And the swing to the ﬁnal covers were just plainfun. Most of Heather Micheleʼs set came from her album, GIRLS GONE WILD which is available through most online sources and can be heard on Unsigned Artists Radio (http://www.uaradio.net) Her performance of the quirky song,ʻMY SANITYʼ covered a number of dysfunctional family values most of us can relate to. The heart-felt ʻIT COULD HAVE BEEN ME,ʼ which was co-written byHeather is currently #31 on the Indie World Chart. Many of Heather Micheleʼs songs are written or co-written by her which further displays the depth of her talent. Her vocals are clear, crisp and deﬁnitely her own. Top it all off with a great ʻLOOKʼ goodanimation on stage and Heather Michele Cohen is a joy for a Concert Photographer to work with. I get chills when I see Singer/Songwriter/ Performer hit the target. This performance was a bullseye.
