Jes Kramer is a one-woman band from Manistee, MI. She started playing shows at 17, learning how to loop and layer, and released her first full length album, Hermaphrodite, in December of 2008.
Hermaphrodite ended up being a collection of songs written and recorded over the span of three years and various cities.
The next release, a split-cassette with Lovestranger, MD called Mint Extract City is set to be released at the end of March, right before Kramer goes into the studio to record her next full length release.
Kramer puts a keyboard-heavy twist on the singer songwriter. She is heavily influenced by bands like the Postal Service, Mirah, and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone.
"Jes Kramer is a great indie-electroacoustic performer (often a one woman band with such a full sound, it is amazing)... her voice is intoxicating, so honest it hurts." slowcoustic.com
"... very heartfelt songs about very complicated situations. Its indie, its pop, but she's so much more than indie pop. Jes has this ability, where its sort of like she's taken a Polaroid of a very bad memory you had long forgot about, and then decorates it with glitter and googly eyes, and then serves it back to you on a plate of cookies. It doesn't really make the memory go away, but it makes it easier to deal with. " focusmedia.org
