The second of two siblings born and raised by the Jersey Shores, new singer/songwriter/producer John Maurice began writing songs in the 3rd grade. Although none of those songs made it on his debut "MUSIC... LIFE...LOVE" CD, they were the first steps that brought him to this point in his musical career. John's initial music exposure came from growing up in a musical home where mom a pianist and singer once a member of the Count Basie Choir and the New Jersey Mass Choir, an aunt who kept him on an eclectic musical diet and other relatives in the music industry. Little did the family realize that the early Saturday morning John Maurice concerts, that featured John banging on the piano before the cock crowed would result in him pursing a music career. With the dream of a music career tucked beneath his arms John was jolted to another level of realization when his dad took him to see "Purple Rain" the movie. Young John Maurice was spellbound by the visuals of an African American leading man "Prince" not only playing the leading man but singing and performing his own songs. This captivating experience showed John numerous windows of opportunities and led to him rethink his future in the arts. During the late 80's to early 90's John Maurice was a lead singer for 3D a funk/fusion band which consisted of his brother, a cousin and other members. He later joined SY (Sincerely Yours) and stayed with the group through the mid 90's. The band performed around the Greater NYC area club scene, a failed management agreement resulted in contract negotiations with Arista Records to fall apart. Undeterred, John Maurice formed yet another group "Back to Back", in 96, then took a detour and attended film school in the late 90's and acted in the Tim Robins' movie "The Cradle Will Rock" it wasn't until Aug. 2007 that he entered the studio to self produce "MUSIC...LIFE...LOVE". Finally Eight Months later in May, 2008 John Maurice completed production of his debut album "MUSIC..LIFE...LOVE" which was release on June 20th 2008. Myspace fans from literally every corner of the globe, even some at the North Pole, (from New Zealand to Iceland, Beijing to Boston, Tokyo to Toronto) have given the thumbs up once they hear tracks from the album. Myrna from the Philippines said, "it's hard to choose a new favorite song from your songs because they are all good.. your voice is so powerful and your music has a therapeutic effect." Carey from West Virgina says "I really like your music. I can't pick which one I like the best. I like them all. I really think you are going to make it big." The Freelance Scientist from Great Britain "Just passing through to sample some good R&B & there was no better place I could think of. Thank you for the music!!!" KB-E-E from South Africa WOW so I got a chance to listen to your music(amazing i must say) and at this moment Dream girl and Anytime are my Favs... Upon reflection, John now quips that the delay may have helped mature the album like time improves good wine.
