If you like love songs, you’ll love Kim Jarrett.
Kim Jarrett's award-winning soft rock is a warm and welcoming blend of blues, pop, folk and country that appeals to fans of greats like Sheryl Crow, Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt.
Over the last decade, Kim Jarrett’s voice and songwriting have been steadily collecting fans, awards and radio play. The Toronto based singer/songwriter has showcased at music festivals at home and in the US, received worldwide distribution on Philips Electronics mp3 players (“How Long”), and been featured on various compilation records and podcasts.
With a long and varied performance history including multiple long-term Toronto residencies, a stint as co-producer of the three season indie music series Bare Bones & Up Front at the Toronto Centre for the Arts (2014-2015), national radio play of two independent full-length releases (“Kim Jarrett”, “Thinking of You”) and co-writes released by other artists (Elana Harte & Stiletto Flats, Toronto Musicians for Change, Jimmy Warren), Kim Jarrett is a seasoned professional songwriter and musician committed to the pursuit of a great song and an entertaining live show.
Jarrett’s songwriting awards to date include a Top 5 Pop/AC and two Finalist awards from Great American Song (“Not Mine”, “I’ll Be”, “Christmas Every Day”), a semi-finalist award from Acoustic Roundtable (“Without Your Hands”), an honourable mention from SongDoor International (“Christmas Every Day”), and a #1 song award from ourstage.com (“How Long”). Live performance highlights include showcases at The Toronto Centre for the Arts (2014) and Dewey Beach Music Conference (2011), and festival spots with Canadian 80’s pop sensations The Spoons, and independent American folk-darling, Melissa Ferrick.
In addition to performing her original material, and cover-based shows in her long-running acoustic duo with bassist/producer and husband, Mike Costantino (“Kim & Mike”), Kim Jarrett is also a vocalist/percussionist and sometimes drummer, performing with bands at venues like The Palais Royale, and festivals like Toronto Pride, and Taste of the Danforth. In 2012 Kim was a part of a James Bond theme song band performance which raised over $2,000 for Sick Kids Hospital, and in 2014, Kim Jarrett & Elana Harte wrote, "Christmas Every Day", and formed the ad hoc collective - Toronto Musicians for Change - to record it and help raise $1,700 for Daily Bread Food Bank. "Christmas Every Day" also received spins on AC radio across Canada over the 2014 and 2015 holiday seasons.
Kim is currently rediscovering her love of classical piano while recording new material of her own, and performing and recording with “Beautiful Salt” – a co-writing project and blues/pop/americana act with Toronto based singer/songwriter Elana Harte.
In the duo* format, we don't need much: 2 vocal mics (SM58 or equivalent) & stands 2 DI's (for guitar & bass) 1-2 stage monitors (for vocals & guitars where possible) PA system adequate for venue size We can also provide our own equipment, where required. Although I generally perform with an acoustic guitar, if the venue has a piano, keyboard, or drums available, we like to use them, too *For trio or four-piece shows, additional equipment is required
