Born on the south side of Chicago, Adrian “Koncept” Boykin started his musical journey at the age of 9 playing piano. Formerly known as “Genius”, he effortlessly began to buzz in the North Dallas area with his song writing ability, and freestyle battles, never losing one round. He received his first feature on the radio by the age of 16 with Dallas native “Big Deuce” from South Route Entertainment/ Rap A Lot Records. His music has made it all the way into the hands of Russell Simons, Cash Money, FMG, and Universal Records. Influenced by real music such as The Roots, Mos Def, ATribe called Quest, One Way, all the way to Bob Marley, Femi and Fela Kuti, Red Hot Chili Peppers , Jill Scott, Lauren Hill, Marvin gay, Al Green and many more. With a presence compared to Kanye West, Common, Lupe Fiasco, and Black Thought combined. He’s been called an “MC on steroids”. By age 17 he enrolled at Columbia college of Chicago majoring in Musical Engineering. There he made connections with all the right people by the name “Koncept” and began recording professionally for the first time. Forming a network of artists, producers, and fans this new sound spread all over the world within a month. Instantly attracting interest’s from Australia, Africa, Germany, and even Asia natives. Not mention all sides of the states from Cali to Miami. The young and aged are both guaranteed to find something to relate to in this artist’s playlist. With over 5,000 listens in one week, “Real Hip Hop” produced by Kyle “The Future” Lawrence served as the defining start of a long and successful career. With labels such as Interscope, Universal, and FMG keeping a close watch on this young talent it’s only a matter of time.
