Linda Luztono is a Canadian R&B/Pop recording artist, songwriter and actress. Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Luztono grew up singing Whitney Houston songs before she could speak English. Her constant singing around the house as a toddler, led her parents to discover her love for music. Adapting the native tongue of her Ukrainian mother and Cuban father, Luztono became fluent in Russian and speaks some Spanish. Now 20, Luztono has many music critics proclaiming her to be the next promising female singer/songwriter to hail from Toronto, Canada; following the footsteps of such stars as Deborah Cox and the 2010 Grammy nominated RnB singer Melanie Fiona, who’s single “It Kills Me” has captivated the music industry.
In creating her three debut singles, Luztono worked with talented Producer Boi-1da who produced Young Money artist Drake's Grammy nominated track "Best I Ever Had" and "Forever". In order to help guide her voice to reaching its own distinct, infectiously addictive and soulful sound, Luztono worked with vocal coach Kafur Farell who helped develop recording artist Deborah Cox amazing vocals. Luztono is currently working with renowned vocal coach Falconer Abraham, who worked with Canadian RnB sensations Melanie Fiona, Andreena Mills and Jully Black.
Luztono’s first debut single, “The One”, released in 2009, has lyrical melodies and soulful ballads reminiscent of the sounds of Alicia Keys, with Mariah Carey like hi-notes and enticing hooks. Yet, she remains unique and true to her own sound. For all its powerful and entrancing elements, Luztono’s voice is soothing and every bit captivating.
“The One”, sat at #1 on the 93.7 WBLK Unsigned Hype Top Ten Countdown for four weeks in a row, which contributed to earning Luztono the WBLK 93.7 “2009 Unsigned Hype Female R&B ARTIST OF THE YEAR”. "The One" was produced by Noah ‘40’ Shebib, who produced Drake's other hit single "Successful". The achievement of her first single landed her a spot on BET’s number 1 rated show 106 & Park “Wild Out Wednesdays”. Luztono is the first unsigned Canadian female artist ever invited to perform on BET’s 106 & Park. After appearing on the show, BET invited Luztono to be a performer at their “Blaze the Stage” event in August, 2010.
Believing that young people are the gatekeepers to the future, Luztono is actively involved in inspiring her generation, performing at various charity events and non-profit organizations in Toronto, such as, the St. Alban's Boys & Girls Club and the YWCA Toronto shelter. Luztono is the former lead singer of the Jazz band, “The Green Jazzberries"; performing at various College campuses around Toronto, in nightclubs, and at Toronto’s famous Dundas Square. She has also been featured in “Hair”, The Musical, as well as the plays “Oliver”, “Idle” and “Macbeth”. Luztono is a 2007 participant of The Honey Jam Showcase, and a featured performing artist on cable TV’s show Caribbean Vibration’s, Mr. Caribbean 2009 Pageant.
By writing most of her own songs, Luztono is every bit involved in all aspects of creating her music. She speaks excitably about the process and transformation: “it is important for me to sing about my own lived experiences from a personal and political level”. Stories are told throughout her music of falling in love, heartbreak and having the time of your life. Her lyrical melodies and relatable stories have attracted an enthusiastic young and mature following.
Luztono is a hard working and humble young lady and is well on her way to becoming a rising star in the music industry. Her musical influences include Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys.
