Michelle De wrote and released her first song called Lost, produced by Gino Brown. Taken aback by the public response to her first release, she wrote a follow-up song called Every Time I Weep, produced by Lacy B. It blew her mind how fans were responding to this single across her social media platforms. It was at this point, she needed to know if this was for real and just flop. For she knew when she wrote her first song, she did so just to prove she could not do it. Surprised by the response she received, she wrote her second song out of pure curiosity. But now, she wanted to know, what would be the results if she wrote a track out of pure passion and drive to make a good song. So, she wrote her third song, titled Don’t Know How To Love, which depicted her true experience in life. Her struggles with committing her whole self into any relationship. She partnered with Nashville Song Service to co-write and produce the single. Upon completion of the track, she decided she was going to go all out with this song and develop a strategic plan that would enable her to reach an international audience to see what kind of response she will get.
28 songwriting competition awards later, her music is selling in the U.S. and U.K. markets. This single only has won her several songwriting contests. In 2016, she won the Roots Finals Grand Prize and ranked #1 in the country genre songwriting competition. In other songwriting competitions, this single only was ranked seventeen times in the Top 40, three times in the Top 10, five times in the Best of 20 and three times in the Best of 100. As of November 2018, it is currently ranked 52nd in songwriting competitions along with two other singles – No Other Love co-written by Felicia Crawford and produced by Nashville Song Service is ranked 49th and Every Time I Weep, produced by Lacy B is ranked 75th. Both singles have won her quite a few songwriting competitions as well.
As of November 2018, her top selling digital single is Don’t Know How To Love and the top selling, licensing single is Love Conspiracy, featuring and produced by Ace Reign, the artist who started this transition for Michelle De. Her music is selling across numerous of music distribution platforms such as iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, Amazon, Deezer, Google, Rhapsody, Yandex, etc. As a result, her music has crossed over into many different territories such as Japan, New Zealand, Netherlands, Thailand, etc.
Although Michelle De has received quite a bit success as a songwriter, the single that means the most to her is Don’t Know How To Love. For it was shortly after the release of that single that she was convinced that she not only had a gift for marketing and promoting content, but she had a natural talent for writing musical lyrics. This new found talent forced her to take a serious look at herself and the direction she was pushing her career. For this single only, was the game changer that changed everything.
