Formed in the Spring of 2007 by a series of events too connected to be considered coincidence, Mury recorded their debut EP, The Tarot Card Prophecy, just three months after their formation. The Tarot Card Prophecy and Mury’s most recent EP, Souls for Sale, showcase their ability to combine thoughtful lyrics, infectious melodies, and catchy hooks.
With an average age of 24, the members of Mury have over 25 years of professional musical experience combined. Vocalist and guitarist Chris Alder served as the group's catalyst, bringing together drummer Burt Hoagland, bassist Jay Glauser, and guitarist Jonathan Olivares to form Mury.
While 2007 was an explosive year for Mury, the first 10 months of 2008 have been astounding, as well. Mury won X96 radio’s contest to play the main stage at the station’s Maverick Big Ass Show, were selected as a finalist in Airwalk’s Unsigned Hero 2008 contest to play Spin Magazine’s stage at SXSW 2009, and made AbsolutePunk.net’s Absolute 100 List 2008. In the first 10 months of 2008 Mury also played more than 70 live shows for fans in Utah, California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.
Mury Members have shared the stage with such acts as Fall Out Boy, Death Cab For Cutie, Yellowcard, Finch, Self Against City, Over It, Everybody Else, You Me and Everyone We Know, Say No More, The Cab, and The Ataris; they have also appeared on several dates of the Vans Warped Tour.
What flows through Mury is the heart and soul of four individuals playing music to live. Mury have sacrificed everything for the simple hope of sharing what means the most to them with anyone willing to listen.
