Paul Stephen Duffy hails from southern California but now makes his home in the Midwest. “I live almost in the middle of nowhere. I loved living close to the beach near the coast, but I much rather prefer living in a quieter place and making music in a more sedentary atmosphere. I didn’t realize people here are just as passionate about music as they are in L.A. They just go about it at a slower pace.”
Paul’s main stage is his home studio. “I’ve always thought of music and songwriting as piecing a puzzle together. You have your basic skeletal outline for a song, then add the pieces: melody, a nice riff here, a harmony there, or leaving it relatively stark and making the simplicity of the song its strong point
Paul calls his studio his ‘castle’. “It’s the place where I escape and oversee my musical projects, just me.” His first two CD’s, “Remedies and Colors” and “Still, It Rains” are self produced, with Paul playing all the instrument
“They’re out there for anyone to enjoy. I’ve gotten some very kind compliments from those who’ve heard them. I appreciate my listeners greatly
