Rak Batum hands out real hip hop with "Real Music" by
Los Angeles, CA – Listeners can consider "Real Muzik" Rak Batum's commentary on the state of hip-hop. This compelling rap artist is bringing back the old with the savvy of the modern artist with his signature blend of stylish lyrics and groove-addiction beats. His singular musical personality gives him a head-and-shoulders-above advantage in the competitive indie hip-hop/R&B scene, just the right edge to stand out for all the right reasons.
"Real Muzik" puts Rak Batum's attitude on full view in more ways than one. The title alone is an indication of his opinion of the genre. And the electrifying classic flavor spun through the contemporary sensibilities of this thought-provoking artist are all the reasons the hip-hop fan needs to open up the number one slot in his list of favorite artists. And his love of classic approaches need not scare retro-phobics. There's nothing dated here. It's simply a fine standing in respect of tradition while that tradition is carried forward into a new world.
Rak Batum put in an appearance at the MTV Music Awards in 1996 and continued to acquit himself marvelously in the realm of urban music. His talents reach far and wide. Not only is he a talented musician and songwriter, he is also a screenwriter and producer. He has more than 50 songs to his credit. Batum is hard at it in the studio, putting his love into the creation of a new album. His goals are not only to break through as a hip-hop artist but to make his mark in the world of screenwriting for television and cinema. "I hope to combine all my skills into a visual art to give people the true understanding of hip-hop," he says. "Hip-hop isn't dead. It's on life support." And that's something he intends to change.
He is currently working with A&R Select, the world's leading independent artist development firm, based out of Los Angeles, CA. More information is available by visiting www.myspace.com/rakbatum08 and www.arselect.com.
