Reverse Order is Finalist In Band Search by
Reverse Order, a locally grown pop rock band, is one of four finalists in maurices Hometown Sound band search. Maurices, the leading hometown specialty store and fashion authority, with help from PlayNetwork and Sonicbids launched the search to find the next big musical act. Vote online at the contest website – mauricesmusic.sonicbids.com – or by using a smartphone to scan the QR code in maurices stores. And, if area residents really love these hometown heroes whose growing resume includes work with Third Eye Blind, they can vote as much as once a day until March 4, 2012. “WOW,” the band says. “Being in the top four means someone sees something special in us. It’s reassurance that our hard work is paying off and that our dreams really can become a reality. Our picture is going to be in maurices stores across the country. We’ve been trying so hard to get people outside our area to know about us, now they will. Thank you.” The winning vote-getter will receive a trip to Los Angeles to shoot a music video with PlayNetwork, gifts from maurices, as well as the opportunity to perform at a maurices branded daytime showcase at South by Southwest 2012 in Austin, TX, in March. Reverse Order is a band going forward – fast. Whether they’re performing for thousands at national festivals or dozens in intimate gatherings, you can’t help but get swept up in their high-energy sound and showmanship. Their music video, “These Summer Nights,” was featured on both MTVu and Fuse TV. “We all just want to scream,” the band says. “We have new music coming out and to be able to shoot a professional music video in LA would be exciting and amazing. We’ve each worked so hard and given up so much to follow our dreams, this would be such a sense of accomplishment and would confirm that we’re on the right path.” Already, Hometown Sound voters have whittled a field of 500-plus bands that entered the contest to 50. A judging panel, which included Graffitti6, electro soul popsters who’ll share the stage in Austin with the contest winner, culled that list to Reverse Order and three other acts – Grace Weber from Milwaukee; Katrina Stone from Denver; and the Blue Birds from Omaha. Fans can vote for Reverse Order and hear their music – as well as the other finalists’ – on the contest website. Each finalist’s music will also be featured for a six-day period in each of maurices nationwide stores. Reverse Order is up Feb. 20-26. This is the second year that PlayNetwork, a music strategy and retail media agency, and Sonicbids, which created and manages the contest website, worked with maurices Hometown Sound. Last year, the effort led to the discovery of the Alton, IL, songwriting duo “Audri & Aaron,” and their winning single, “Home.” In a new twist, this year’s contest includes male-fronted bands.
