Rob Vance will be releasing his first CD sometime in 2015. It will be a mix of Country, Rock and Blues with a twist of Old School meets New Contemporary. Recently his song "Got It Goin' On" made its way to Sony/Nashville with the possibility of being pitched to a well known Nashville act who already has a couple Top Ten Hits. Stay tuned.

Published: September 28. 2012 12:01AM Not everybody agrees on the ideal place to live, but the address is pretty clear cut. That'd be Easy Street. Who doesn't want to end up there? Rob Vance knows; he's already livin' the life. He recently re-formed Easy Street, a country-rock band that will play its first Erie shows in six years (not counting two gigs as Tyson Bowman's backup band) tonight and Saturday at the BW Saloon in Fairview. Vance is a veteran musician who's played in roughly a billion bands over the years, including a few hundred simultaneously. He's currently in Acoustic Gypsies, for instance, as well as classic-rock band Antyx. But his songwriting sensibility leans toward the type of music Nashville favors these days, which is basically the type that was called rock and roll when Poco and Pure Prairie League played it in the 1970s. Today's country is a lot like yesterday's rock," Vance said. "A lot of it reminds me of the Eagles, with a lot of harmonies." Easy Street will favor upbeat current artists such as Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, Sugarland, Thompson Square, Kenny Chesney, Civil Wars and Trent Tomlinson, while sprinkling in an occasional classic-rock song or old chestnut by Johnny Cash or Hank Williams. The group can cover both male and female powered material. In addition to Vance -- who sings and plays guitar -- Easy Street includes Amy Shallenberger, who is a multitasker like Vance. She's also in the blues band the Riffriders and Acoustic Gypsies. Other band members include bassist Mike Bidwell, guitarist Ken Walters and drummer Steph Sanford. Everyone sings, so they can harmonize for days on covers, as well as on Vance's originals. Vance has been testing his country-leaning songs at OurStage.com, which has 4.5 million listeners. They vote on which songs they like most by new and emerging artists in monthly competitions; the winner earns cash. You can bet music bigwigs monitor the site for potential hits. Vance's barroom, honky-tonky flavored "Ride Like the Wind" did especially well. It made it to the No. 2 spot out of 250 entries, so that was kind of encouraging," Vance said. "It's one of those things I didn't publicize. I wanted to see how the song would do on its own. I didn't want a bunch of friends voting." Vance is also working with an A&R company, which forwarded another original to a major Nashville player. He's making inroads. In the meantime, he's glad to have his toes back in country with gigs this weekend. It's a chance to get the band in front of people again and into the country scene," he said.

Erie Times-News Published: April 26, 2012 12:01 AM EST Back to his roots It took me 30 years to realize my roots. I think it's been kind of a process for me of who I really am musically. As it turns out, I lean towards country and more so towards today's country. It's what I've been working on. In the very near future, I'm about two songs away from a 10-song (album) cd release. I'm putting together a new country band that will probably be on the scene in late spring/early summer. Solo album The recording I'm doing now is a full band production, but I'm writing most of the songs, doing the singing, and playing the guitar, bass, banjo and some dobro. Recently, I was lucky enough to get one of my songs through the door at Sony Nashville, which was really cool. They were looking to gather up songs to pitch to a band called The Lost Trailers. The future I want to get back in the country scene. It would be nice to see the country scene take off again. I'd like to test the waters with some of my stuff to see how it goes over. On ourstage.com you can post your music. It's entered into contests and rated by listeners. They have a pretty big fan base of four to five million people that tap into this site. Artists can sign up and post their music and people can give their opinion. I have a new song, my most recent, which reached No. 4 on their country charts which is really encouraging.
