Ryan James Hanlin was born and raised in Blue Springs, Missouri. Ryan's father is a veteran high school basketball coach and his late mother was a homemaker. Ryan took serious interest in music after high school. In college he was supposed to be studying for a test in the dining hall and wrote a song instead. Some of Ryan's best memories were from hanging out in the woodworking shop with his grandpa. They would listen to old country legends such as George Jones, Keith Whitley and Merle Haggard. Ryan soon formed his first band in the 90's called Ryan Hanlin & Higher Ground. They toured the Midwest for 8 years developing a following, along with gaining the respect of Kansas City's Top Country radio station KBEQ FM, Q104. Hanlin has opened for many artists such as Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Joe Nichols, Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton, Phil Vassar, Gary Allan, Josh Turner, Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam, Craig Morgan, Sara Evans, and many more. When he's on stage entertaining the crowd his fans can all agree that the stage is where he belongs. For the past four years Ryan has lived in Nashville Tennessee where he continues to work on his music career. He signed a publishing deal with McCarthy Publishing and is writing songs and recording them. He is hopeing to get signed for a record deal.
