About the Artist
SANDRA KAYE, PENSACOLA, FLORIDA'S VERY OWN SINGER/SONGWRITER/PERFORMER/MUSICIAN/PUBLISHER.
Sandra Kaye was raised in the Baptist Church and there she was blessed with her musical roots! She knew at a very early age that music was going to be a big part of her life!
Her Mother went into labor with her at Pensacola Beach in the Gulf of Mexico and her first beach ball still sits upon the tower in the Casino Beach parking lot.
January 1983, Sandra Kaye began her new career as a female vocalist/ band leader/ booking agent/songwriter.
Signed with BMI as a songwriter and publisher.
Band Name: "AKC" then "SHINE" then "LEGAL TENDER".
Performing in Hiltons, Howard Johnson's, Ramada's, Sheratons, Holiday Inn's and many free standing night clubs all across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
1984, met some inspiring people like Pee Wee King, Con Hunley, Steven Pride, Ken Rainey, Don Desheild, Jim Ed Brown, Stella Parton, Bill Anderson and the list goes on.
Recorded with Pensacola's own, "Clayton Ivey" at the "Wishbone Studio" in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
1985, released her 1st single "Hard Drinkin' Good Timin' Woman". She received Nationwide airplay and appeared on The Nashville Network show, "You Can Be A Star".
5 years of living in motel rooms, always away from her family and hometown friends. Can you say "lonely"?
She had a handful of songs which she had written, and after having to replace so many musicians on the road, she began to give up on the idea that she was going to find that perfect combination of musicians, "the band", that she needed to further her musical career. Then she got the idea that maybe if she could work with musicians from her own hometown, then the whole band would be on the same page and therefore more musical career progress.
1987 ended with Sandra coming home to work at the Carousel Lounge as just the "Girl Singer".
That lasted for 4 years. During which, "The Mighty Carousels" became known as "The Show Band Of The South" and they were the opening act for many well know artist.
John Anderson, John Conley, Leon Everett, The Forrester Sisters, Billy Joe Royal, Dr. Hook, B. J. Thomas and the list goes on. The crowd roar was extremly loud when Sandra Kaye was asked to join Billy Joe Royal on stage to sing "Members Only"!
"The Mighty Carousels" were very tight and untouchable in Pensacola, Florida! The music was precise and the band had the ablitiy to raise the hair on your arm.
1990, keyboardist, Silva Saxon left "The Mighty Carousels" and the band began to be not as "mighty". Sandra stayed one more year and then joined Silva Saxon in Birmingham, Alabama.
1992, Silva Saxon was working with Twister's (Birmingham, AL) house band "Firestarted". The band agreed to assist and conquer as "Sandra Kaye and The Firestarted Band" won the Alabama Miller Battle of the Bands. Sandra Kaye was awarded the six foot tall trophy and everyone walked away with their share of the 1,000 one dollar bills prize money. After turning down a job at J.T. Henry's (huge club in Birmingham), Sandra Kaye got a phone call from Gene Chong in Pensacola, Florida.
June 1992, Sandra Kaye formed a new band "The LEGEND Band" to assist Gene Chong in the reopening of his legendary club "Gene's Lounge".
As the new club underwent changes, so did the band. Silva Saxon was working with "Dicks Hat Band" at the time and decided to come home to help Sandra Kaye
build a stronger band.
"The LEGEND Band" stayed at Gene's Lounge for over 8 months and then moved on to Murphy's Too (a few months), The Dock, Pensacola Beach (1 ½ years), back to Gene's Lounge (many months), Ace of Hearts (a few months) ), then to J.T.'s Lounge, Liberty Bowling Center (many months), then on to Bleachers at Pensacola Beach (2 years).
1997: Sandra Kaye appeared with her very popular band "The LEGEND Band" in Music Videos shot at the Bleachers Beach Bar on the highly rated Regional music television show "The Uncharted Zone".
1997: In the summer of 97 a locally produced television special showcased music appropriate to each of the five flags the historic city of Pensacola has been governed by since it was established. Sandra Kaye & "The Legend Band" represented the USA Flag with a creatively edited Music Video for "America The Beautiful" that also showed scenes from the local Vietnam War Memorial The Wall South.
1998: While performing the Opening act for STEPPENWOLF at the Wall South Concert Sandra Kaye and "The LEGEND Band" were Video Taped by UZ~TV and much of the footage went on to air on local television.
After the 2 year stay as the "house band" at Bleachers, "The LEGEND Band" moved on to the Days Inn, downtown Pensacola and then the 5 ½ hour drive (one way) to the Ramada Inn in Tuscaloosa, Alabama began! "The LEGEND Band" brought in the new year, 1999, at the Ramada Inn with a crowd of over 700 people having a great time!
February 1999, Silva took a job playing with Pete and Repete at Foxx Landing, Pensacola. Sandra Kaye bought equipment and started hosting karaoke.
5 piece band jobs were hard to find but the karaoke possibilities seemed unlimited! Sandra Kaye later joined Silva, Pete, Repete and Steve Pullen at Foxx Landing Friday & Saturday nights. After a few months, Sandra Kaye and Silva Saxon were approached by Mary and J.T. Lee to come host karaoke at J.T.'s Lounge (Liberty Lanes Bowling Center) on Friday and Saturday nights because their band, "The Ravens" was leaving. Knowing that there was no way karaoke was going to work on the weekend nights, Sandra Kaye and Silva took the challange anyway. One year later, Sandra Kaye and Silva were still hosting karaoke at J.T.'s Lounge, Ole Toads, Mr. B's and Woodsie's Hilltop.
All of that moving around every night required many bruises, equipment maintenance and investment dollars for more CDGs, paper ,pencils, ink, ect.

"Can't Let That Bother Me" is ready to be released through Loud Dog Records.
Hundreds of copies are sold, but not yet released to the radio stations.
Then progress is stopped because the title cut "Can't Let that bother me" is going back to the studio for modifications.
2003 “Can’t Let That Bother Me” is manufactured by DiskMakers and ready for release to radio stations in 2004. “The LEGEND Band” continues to play at least one night a week and the karaoke continues for four.
Sandra Kaye, still believing that "persistence pays off", continues to search for that one "big break" in the music business. Her goals are to bring love and happiness to others through her songwriting and music.
