Say Vandelay was formed in the winter of 2006, and they have spent the last two years crafting their sound and perfecting what they call “progressive, aggressive, indie rock and roll.” In early 2007, they were featured on an Augusta, GA local release, “Live at Sector 7G” in which they were the title track on a compilation of chosen local favorites. In the fall of 2007, they released their independent EP, “The Photo Regret”, (available on I-tunes), in which tracks were instantly greeted into rotation on local rock radio. While playing many local live shows, (regarded as some of the most energetic in the area), Say Vandelay was also busy working on new material, taking their songs and sound to the next level. In the midst of all this, Say Vandelay accepted the”Brandon Layton Award for Favorite All Ages Band in Augusta” in the winter of 2007.
The band withdrew itself for much of the spring of 2008, busy demoing the new ideas and crafting new songs for their release, titled, “Actor Meets Actress”. The band recorded the EP at Ledbelly Studios in late July. During that time, they were also chosen as one of twelve Augusta bands to have a song featured on the yearly CD, “The 12 bands of Christmas."
Say Vandelay was added to the roster on Wisteria Recordings in September of 2008. With the release of the new EP, Say Vandelay is reemerging back onto the scene proving themselves over and over again with energetic live shows and mouth-watering music.
