Growing up, I really wanted to play the piano but we couldn't afford one...so I took up the trumpet! But when the music teacher quit...so did I! The next instrument we could afford (and didn't make my parents crazy) was the guitar. I began writing almost immediately - my first composition was written at age 13, is a ballad about broken love (aren't they all!!)called "I Refuse to Listen". My early writer influencers were Cat Stevens, Janis Ian, Carole King and others. My early rock influences are Heart, FleetWood Mac and similar artists. Fast-forward to present day and you will find me listening to writers like Sarah McLaughlin, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, Brandi Carlile and a wider range of styles.
