The LIST MagazineWe are working on a cover music video of Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People that will be released before the new year. We hope it will go crazy viral on YouTube and get us some exposure."
The LIST: ORIGIN STORY?
Silver Dollar Circus: We have all been into music pretty much all of our lives whether it is learning our instruments or just listening to a ton of music. All of us have played in youth groups or school bands growing up. We're from the land of the great Columbia River and nuclear plutonium in Tri-Cities, WA.
The LIST: INSPIRATION?
Silver Dollar Circus: Our musical influences would include Paper Route, Coldplay, Muse, and Jukebox the Ghost among many others. The people who influence us the most are the local musicians who have been successful in the business such as Goodnight Argent or Eclectic Approach.
The LIST: RECENT ANTICS?
Silver Dollar Circus: We recently wrote and produced our new album available on iTunes called The Animalia. Brook Floyd at Rainmaker Studios in Kennewick recorded, mixed and mastered the album. The album has been getting a ton of airplay on 88.1 KTCV the local high school radio station. We have made a couple TV appearances on Goodmorning Northwest. We've been featured in a small magazine called The Ruckus Review, as well as the local paper several times; although we've never seen it, we have been told that we were featured in a magazine called The Entertainer. We played a show earlier this year with Monte Pittman's side project featuring Tommy Joe Ratliff, Warren Willis and Xander Smith.
The LIST: IF YOU WERE 'PRESIDENT' OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?
Silver Dollar Circus: There's nothing we can say here that hasn't already been said a million times before. The music industry is losing money from fans downloading albums and are working bands even harder to cover the difference. This is creating less and less opportunities since labels are providing less and less financial backing for bands which means that unless you're already established or rich it's hard to get a leg up in music nowadays. There will always be pirating of music so we as bands need to figure out other ways to support our selves in our careers.
The LIST: FUTURE CONQUESTS?
Silver Dollar Circus: We are working on a cover music video of Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People that will be released before the new year. We hope it will go crazy viral on YouTube and get us some exposure. We have primarily performed in the Tri-cities so far but plan to soon venture out to bigger cities such as Seattle, Spokane and Portland. We would like to give a shout out to our bestest friends in Ghost Animals and Man of the Hour!
