About the Artist
Sometimes compared to bands like Muse, Queen, and The Cars, SPiN's sound has been described as: "Classic epic songwriting with a modern pop twist!" (Luke Tozour-Pink, Katy Perry, Mika); "great hooks, melodic rock...and burbling synthesizers" (the-trades.com); "hard-driving power chords and edgy overtones layering over thoughtful, subtle melodic progressions. I am in love!" (antimusic.com) and "synth pop with rock aggression and catchy melodies" (examiner.com)
Songs from their 2011 debut album, "BELiEVE" and their 2010 EP "Home" have been met with both industry praise: "nice rock edge with some real pop sensibilities" (Bill Burrs -RCA Label Group) and national press: "...a comfortable space between emo and the grittier side of power pop...some very radio-friendly material." (Vintage Guitar Magazine) Numerous tracks have received airplay across the US and Canada ("Home" reached #7 on FMQB) and have appeared in hit TV series on networks like Spike TV, Bravo, MTV, VH1, and G4 across more than a dozen shows. The band's track "Hurt By You" was also featured on G4's "Attack of the Show" in their Free Beats segment. Their music video for "Playing Dead" garnered similar attention with rotation in the U.S. on FUSE TV, in Canada on AUX TV, and online as a NEW Yahoo! Music featured video. The buzz eventually made its way to Spin magazine's publisher Tom Hartle, who said "we want to support these guys," which was ironic in that his magazine filed a cease and desist order against them for use of the name - the band refused.
Often on the road, SPiN has provided support for Halestorm, Fuel, Hinder, SafetySuit, Puddle of Mudd, Trapt, Red, Fat Joe and more during their 500 plus shows across 25 states. When not touring, SPiN continues to write, record, and release music at their studio inside a 150 year old funeral home in the band's hometown of Philadelphia. SPiN is "true DIY power pop that should turn some heads. If not, you're not listening properly!" (Alan Cross - The Ongoing History of New Music, ExploreMusic)
