About Stephen Budd Singer Songwriter living in Tucson, AZ.  Currently finishing a cd that will be released in January 2008 on his own label, ghosttown records.  Previously released recordings on the label in the 1990's, including the album, ghosttown, that had a song, blackbird, included on several compilation cd's, including one by Cleveland's SinKlub label.  That song received some minor airplay at 10 college stations throughout the Midwest USA. and Stephen did some live radio performances and interviews at some of these. After putting together a band, Burnt Sienna, and playing live for several years, including opening up for Blue Rodeo, John Wesley Harding, Over the Rhine and Paul Kelly; Stephen became disillusioned with the band's prospects and relocated to Ann Arbor, MI to redirect, continue to write music and focus on a secondary career, beginning with a job at a software company.  Continuing playing as a solo artist, Stephen met his eventual wife and relocated to Pittsburgh, PA and then married and settled in Tucson, AZ to be close to her family and see western horizons. While in Pittsburgh, Stephen started recording demos and basic tracks for what would become an ever-morphing cd project.  Beginning in Detroit, recording in the basement of renowned Was Not Was drummer, Ron Pangborn, new songs and grooves were created and many of those basic tracks eventually found themselves onto Stephen's upcoming cd, entitled Gathering Sky. In fact, one song, End of the World (Gathering Sky), was sent back to Ron with already recorded music and rough vocal tracks for him to add a drum track to and mail back. While working on this cd, Stephen was lucky enough to meet and hire the talents of the soon to be indie darling band, Calexico, whose drummer John Convertino brought bandmate Joey Burns as a welcome surprise to Stephen and they recorded basic tracks for 5 or 6 songs, including probably the most radio friendly track, Brand New Man, which was nailed by the Calexico guys on the second take. Stephen really is fond of this session as he felt it was just a magical evening in an old converted garage studio called Subspace. During that time and over the next several years, Stephen started and completed graduate school, began a new career (as a Psychotherapist), moved several times, bought a house, became a dad (girl), saw 9/11 happen, became a dad again (boy), studied for and passed a licensing exam while caring for a 2 year old and and 0 year old (tired!!), and then starting a private practice.  Kept writing and doing some other recording projects as the studio closed down for a while and then started to finish up and mix the cd several years ago, slowly adding in or taking out songs and mixes trying to come up with a cohesive piece despite the years that have gone into the project. For the past two years, Stephen has also put together an ensemble of local talented musicians to play on the cd and also perform at the annual Tucson Folk Festival.  He continues to develop this group under the moniker, Treehouse Fire. Sept, 2008, Stephen had just finished the cd final mixes and mastering and the cd is being released in Late December 08 and Early 2009.
