About the Artist
Street Pharmacy is a four piece alternative rock reggae band hailing from Welland, Ontario. Lead singer and song writer Ryan Guay started the band immediately after he was released from the Hamilton Mood Disorder clinic due to a misdiagnosis of Schizophrenia. Ryan had caught a physical illness which caused his brain to swell.
Soon after, Ryan began writing songs about his experiences with mental decapitation and formed the band Street Pharmacy with his childhood best friend and Guitarist, Nate Triano in 2006. Since then, Street Pharmacy has written and recorded 3 full length albums and gained a serious cult following around Southern Ontario. Their sound resembles the honesty of the alternative rock period of the 90s combined with reggae grooves and lyrical flow reminiscent of Golden Age Hip Hop.
Recently, Street Pharmacy have traveled to Cuba to record their concept album "the Legacy of Rudy" and were also co-winners of popular Much Music's series, DisBAND. The band is currently working on their 4th release with producer Greig Nori (Sum 41, Hedley) and are planning to have the record complete in Late 2010. Whether you are at a crazy college party or just hanging on a summer breeze relaxing, Street Pharmacy's unique flavor is sure to keep you coming back for more so fill your prescription today!
