Indian born 20 something raised in the suburbs of Washington DC, Tejas Singh is singer/songwriter who currently lives and works in New York City. He drew influence early on from the jam band scene, which was at the time dominated by Phish, and from groups like the Dave Matthews Band and Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. Citing a wide array of influences such as Michael Jackson, Pedro the Lion, Ben Folds Five, Cake, Ray Lamontagne, and Paul Simon, his writing fits comfortably into to the pop rock category, with strong, memorable melodies and relevant lyrical content. His first official release came in May of 2007, shortly after moving to New York to pursue music full time. The EP, A Brief History, is a six song record running just over twenty minutes that explores some of his more recent musical influences, with up tempo blue grass beats and a lyrical overtone that is socially and politically conscious. With a repertoire of over fifty original songs, it is sure to be the first of many recordings to come.
