Biography

"Having a special quality that allows for one's music to stand out from the crowd can really help make a band shine. Such diversity is one of the strong points behind The Absolute Zeros. Not only does their music cross many styles, but their members cross many generations and walks of life. When put together, they all make incredible music." "Having a special quality that allows for one's music to stand out from the crowd can really help make a band shine. Such diversity is one of the strong points behind The Absolute Zeros. Not only does their music cross many styles, but their members cross many generations and walks of life. When put together, they all make incredible music." Bill McThrill, The Compendium Vol 3, Issue 7Formed from an unlikely union of beachtown British singer/songwriter Kelvin Cochrane and North Philly percussionist extraordinaire Sabu Rex, The Absolute Zeros performed a few low key gigs in 2006 while concentrating mostly on recording and finding the essential parts of a full live band.Enter Steve La Monica and Bill Rose in January 2007. Steve nonchalantly strolled in and managed to fill the all important shoes of the bass player after a year long search. Bill isn't just a drummer he plays guitar bass, keyboards and saxophone!!! The down side of this is that you can't hit him with all the usual drummer jokes, ("What do you call a guy who hangs around with musicians? etc etc) the plus side speaks for itself. The line-up was completed with the addition of Austin Madert on lead guitar in March 2007. Wah Wah stomping, mouth open bending, blues lick riffing Austin brings a very cool vibe to the band and has added some much needed melodic interjections to compliment Kelvin's chunky rhythm playing. With a full line up, The Absolute Zeros hit the Philadelphia scene in March of 2007, quickly gaining a loyal local following through their dynamic performances at Philly venues including World Cafe Live, Grape Street Pub, and The Khyber to name a few.
