The Backwoods Massacre is by no means a “conventional modern metal act”. They refuse to let modern media dictate their direction as musicians and individuals. With their formation in the fall of 2009, they have had but one goal: remove metal from the new wave of “glamcore” music and take it back to a more raw, more aggressive state. After conception, they worked diligently to become a fusion of 80's and 90's Death and Thrash metal with the more melodic European styles. Drawing influences from American acts such as The Big Four, Pantera, Death, and Deicide, along with European acts such as Iron Maiden, In Flames, Arch Enemy, and Amon Amarth, they set out on a path from which they can never return from. They have settled into a three piece consisting of Peter Mallard on vocals, Henry Thompson on guitar, and Chris Reynolds on drums. With their sound becoming a solid onslaught of heavy, aggressive guitars, steamrolling drums, and vocals that range from deathly growls to high pitched shrieks they have no intention of ever letting themselves become slaves to modern trends. With the recording of their debut album looming on the horizon, along with some major shows, they are ready to take on anyone or anything in their path to the top.
