Inspire: In Loving Memory began as a solo, instrumental, electronic ambient project featuring only Levi L. Powell, which began as raw, rough, and unexpected instrumentals with a hint of "Sigur Ros"-ish influence. Over the past two years Inspire: In Loving Memory has become and created a whole new a band, living on by the same name.
The style of music changed and became something new shortly after the passing of two dearly loved family members and a close friend. Levi Powell's new outlook and attempt at something new birthed a brand new style and a new found honesty and courage in his words and lyrics that until then had not been in existence. The time for instrumentals was over for him. He began singing, writing, and recording solo acoustic songs with heartfelt, heart on his sleeve, lyrics over smooth and soothing guitar. Inspire: In Loving Memory had begun to go in a new direction, producing songs such as, "Welcome Home", "Hope", and "The World, The Fences," all independent and devoid of any record label, management, or even other members, each song is recorded in a custom built computer based in-home recording studio.
When asked about the changes made to Inspire: In Loving Memory, front man, Levi Powell says, "After the passing of a friend and two family members in six months, I began to take a new outlook on things, and began creating music in a fashion that I called, In Loving Memory. A lot of these songs are about change. Change affects us all and has torn through my routine life in the last few years, and if I must change so shall my music change. The loose of friends, hopes, and loved ones have made me feel as though my best is what the world deserves. It's what I deserve, to feel alive, to hope for better days, to live in the moment, and to sing to the heavens in hopes someone might hum back."
Inspire: In Loving Memory's music had changed, as if possessed by the grief of lose, these songs seem to send messages to old friends and lost relatives. Each song has its own message, its own recipient, and its own feel. Although, these songs are still broad enough that anyone can relate. The feel of Levi Powell's songs range from despair to pure enjoyment and are sure to impress. These songs feature lyrics that would be hard pressed to be spoken and yet they are sung and placed to music. These new songs are a great leap of creativity placing Inspire: In Loving Memory among indie artists such as "Clarensau", "PlayRadioPlay", & "Lydia."
