Enter, Tierra Heart, granddaughter of legendary jazz musician Julius Hemphill whose inimitably melodic harmonies and lyrical prowess prove that quality music lives. Hailing from Pomona, California, Tierra in the tradition of many legendary soul singers was originally trained in gospel music. By age 7, she was a featured soloist at the church where her grandmother served as musical director in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was in that church where Tierra first had the opportunity to showcase her angelic voice in front of hundreds. After returning to California, Tierra realized the potential to develop her gift into a profession. A European pop superstar in her adolescent years, Tierra’s career took flight professionally when she set out for Germany to become part of a group dubbed Four Colourz who quickly inked a record deal with BMG/Ariola.
