While playing basketball for the Uconn Huskies, Toolez would often drive to Providence Rhode Island to pick up tracks then turn right around and head back to campus. Chicago Bulls star Ben Gordon was quoted saying “When I was in the gym working on my game, Toolez was in the room making classics...The best is yet to come. Toolez is no stranger to hard work or the big stage. With performances alongside Kanye West, Ludacris, Jim Jones, Trina, Lil Boosie, Apathy, and T.I., fans can rightfully say his stage presence is that of an icon in the making. Despite being unsigned, he has collaborated with notable stars such as Gillie Da Kid, Stat Quo, H Town’s Dom GI, Mateo and Obie Trice. Toolez has appeared on popular radio stations in New York City, Hartford and Philadelphia. He interviewed on New York’s XFM radio with DJ Chuck Chillout on 66 RAW and Hartford’s top urban radio station, Hot 93.7 with K Dub and DJ Bigg Mann. As his popularity grew from street corner freestyler to 2004 NCAA National Champion, to lyrical phenomenon, the Toolez brand has become more profitable landing him spots in The Daily Campus, Slam Magazine, Music Choice, The New York Post, The Daily Local, and Dimepiece Magazines national launch issue. Toolez has the advantage of appealing to wide audience without difficulty. He has had the unique opportunity of living in diverse cultural and economic environments. Armed with the experiences and knowledge learned from exposures ranging from the African American based hoods of Pennsylvania to the Caucasian filled campuses of a major University, Toolez understands every aspect of the new generation which is evident in his music. He utilizes different images that make him appealing to each segment of the Hip-Hop and Rap market without losing validity or credibility. Ultimately, Toolez is a product that satisfies the tastes and preferences of customers in every applicable competing lane of the music industry. With airplay from Germany to Canada Toolez’ artistic ability displays staying power and diversity in multi-cultured countries. Along with being an executive producer, A&R and ghostwriter, Toolez is the founder and chairman of Team Toolez and co-owns 50/50 L.G. Entertainment with his childhood friend Mondre ‘$Dre Money$’ Boggs. Team Toolez, ran by Antez ‘Tez’ Hutcherson is a promotional company started in 2008 that handles mass marketing and promotion for rap artist. 50/50 L.G. Entertainment is the independent record company where Toolez and partner $Dre Money$ develop and distribute various acts such as R&B, pop, and hardcore rap. In 2008, 50/50 L.G. Entertainment rap artist Mystik started production on her debut album with critically acclaimed producer Dame Grease, increasing the labels credibility of delivering promising artist. Toolez often refers to himself as The Crown Holder but talks about why that doesn’t mean he’s “the king”. “First of all, the majority of the clothes I wear are sponsored by Crown Holder. More importantly, kings are born into royalty and I’m a have-not. When I say I’m the crown holder, I’m saying that I took the kings crown and I refuse to give it back. By no means am I the heir to the thrown. Everything I’ve earned I took. Why stop with the crown?”
