Born April 16 1980, Angelo ‘Uncle Paulie’ Maldonado’s passion for music was in his blood, his grandfather being a well renowned singer and guitarist throughout the 1950's. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he became a member of the local church youth choir at the age of 11, and wasn't long before he became its lead singer, traveling and performing across the United States at several church functions. His teenage years paved way for his infatuation into hip hop music, becoming a huge fan of the likes of LL Cool J, New Edition, & KRS One, even trying to add his new found love for hip hop into his own repertoire. He began to enter talent shows and school plays off his singing abilities, performing at weddings, parties and private functions. As Angelo rose to young adulthood, his rapping abilities strengthened, and he embarked on making a name for himself on the underground hip hop circuit, effortlessly winning battles against all opposition. He also honed himself as a rap artist, and proceeded to do shows all over the country: shows closer to home in New York and also as far as the West Coast. His accolades consist of opening for the likes of the Youngbloodz, Peedi Crack and Mr Cheeks. He even performed alongside Wyclef Jean on the Carson Daly show, and began to receive radio airplay on stations such as “Blazin 102.3”, arguably one of the best hip hop and R & B radio shows in Tallahasee. Currently, Mr. Maldonado, who also goes under the alias ‘Big Laro’, regularly performs at packed venues around the New York area, a member of the highly respected Point Dot Period crew, and affiliated with all the major groups and hip hop circles. He had plans to collaborate with the late Proof of D-12 before his untimely death. He currently receives regular airplay on online radio stations such as ‘TSM Satellite’. His diversity knows no bounds: you can catch him perform rap verses brimming with hype, energy and lyrical ability to make you bop your head, and the next minute you can be enjoying his harmonies which soothe your soul and send a shiver down your spine, making Uncle Paulie one of the deadliest in untapped talent. Not only can he do both, but he does them to a high degree of aptitude. Last but not least Uncle Paulie made his Video Music Box debut June 2007,,if you don't know about this legendary show,,, you just don't know hip-hop, hosted by Hot 97.1's own Dj Ralph Mcdaniels. Now be for real, how many cats you know that's singing and rapping? My skills are infinite……”
