Born and raised in Montreal’s Little Burgundy neighborhood, home of legendary greats Oscar Peterson and Oliver Jones, Datdude has always had music running through his veins. His father was a singer/guitarist in a reggae band and his mother filled their apartment with the sounds of R&B.
In DatDude’s late teens he enrolled in a sound engineering course, giving him the skills to produce the music he always wanted to make. Coming from humble beginnings, DatDude spent five years in the field in order to better his position in life. Not long after, DatDude was hired to run an indie record label as a producer / manager / writer. Over the next 3 years, DatDude completed over 10 mixtape albums, helping with recording, production & songwriting.
As of 2008, DatDude began focusing on his own singing career. The first song he recorded received serious radio play, running 11 weeks in a row on the Masters At Work show on CKUT 90.3 fm. As he gained popularity in the city, DatDude caught the ear of MC Mario & was a featured performer on his last 5 compilation albums. Many of DatDude’s songs have received regular radio airplay on top 40 stations all over the country. His Influences include Andre 3000, R. Kelly, T-pain, Radiohead, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder.
Datdude knows what it takes to be an entertainer. In 2010/2011 DatDude was the opening act & hype man for Canadian recording artist Ricky J. He toured all across Canada, California, & Mexico where he charmed the crowd with his energy and stage presence.
