Viperfish is a Bulgarian rock band comprised of Adrian Gougov (main songwriter, lead guitar, vocals, and piano), Dimo Mezekliev (bass & backing vocals) and Matey Hristoskov (drums & backing-vocals). Adrian defines their music as “aggressive energetic rock with a melodramatic twist in it”. Only after 3 to 4 rehearsals, the band entered a battle of the bands competition and won second place, therefore winning themselves a spot on the annual “Celebration for George” Bulgarian festival. In 2008, the band claimed the Grand Prix and 2 more awards on the Nessebar Pop & Rock Competition, defeating over 40 other bands & performers. Since then Viperfish (previously performing as ‘Evolution’) began playing frequently in most of Sofia’s clubs and made a name for themselves in the underground scene as one of the most aggressive and energetic live bands around. On Christmas Day 2009 they self-released their debut EP to the Bulgarian public – the CD was entitled “SymbioGenesis”. "Stain" was released as the first single and topped Z-Rock Radio’s Main Rock Chart for 12 consecutive weeks. The band was featured in the Bulgarian Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the 4 most prominent rock acts in the country at that time. Due to the fact that Adrian, Dimo & Matt all attended 3 different universities in the United Kingdom, they decided it’s about time they do their first UK show – this took place @ London’s Monto Water Rats. Almost immediately after their return in Bulgaria, a music video was shot for “Explosive”, during their first homecoming gig. The trio decided that this event is just what they need to change their name and give a fresh start to everything. The chosen name was Viperfish. Following a number of very successful gigs in Sofia, the band re-visited the Nessebar Pop & Rock festival and once again took home the “Best Original Music” award. The trio was once again featured in Rolling Stone Magazine and with the release of the video to “Explosive” their myspace was re-designed and subsequently this official web-page was opened. The band plans to release their first single in the UK around mid November and tour & play as much as possible.
