Iowa native Wendy Jans took an early interest in performing thanks to the full-voiced, soulful women in music like Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker and Karen Carpenter. Wendy still counts them as influences as she pursues performing and writing her own brand of percussive, soulful music out of Nashville, TN. Striving to exemplify the independent artist, Wendy co-produced her album “Today”, as well as creating the album artwork and writing 11 of the 12 tracks. Wendy has garnered attention from the songwriting community as winner of the River Bluff Performing Songwriting Competition, a finalist in the International Song Search, winner of the Trowbridge Symposium and has received honorable mentions in the Billboard World Song Contest and Nashville Song Search. In the summer of 2008, Wendy was commissioned to write a theme song, which she titled “I Love This Town”, for a rural revitalization campaign presented by the Federal Home Loan Bank. Wendy has received radio play in Nashville’s Lightening 100fm, XM satellite radio, various internet radio as well as Nashville’s Public Radio.
