Passionate. Creative. Thoughtful. . . . . Benny. Hailing from Staten Island, New York by way of Bogota, Colombia where he was born, the quiet crooner is one of the most refreshing new voices to hit the music industry. With so many talented artists, it is sometimes difficult to make a distinction; not so with Benny.
Benny is a passionate and thoughtful young man who has known his passion for music since the age of 9 when he began singing. In addition to delivering beautiful ballads, he enjoys writing music, studying the industry and hanging out with friends. Benny was adopted by a loving family from Staten Island, New York where he was raised and now resides. He was born with a natural affinity for music and his parents, who adopted him when he was 6 months, also have a vast interest in music.
As a youth growing up, Benny was exposed to the music of such geniuses such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, John Lennon, and Donnie Hathaway. At the age of 15 Benny decided to pursue his musical talent by joining the school choir.
In addition, he became a dancer for the Starstruck Dance School. This is where Benny found himself writing his own songs and hoping for an audience of the world. Benny has studied and admired, such artists as Kevon Edmonds, Musiq Soul Child, Usher, Tyrese, Tank among other artists.
Like many of today’s youth, Benny is no stranger to adversity. His mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when he was just a young boy; causing him to mature faster than other young people his age. He often times helped his father care for his mother and took on more responsibilities as he became older. Benny continued to pursue his music while caring for his mother, working part-time jobs and going to school. At the age of 17, Benny completed his first EP, entitled “The Prelude.” This EP gained him instant success and notoriety in the local community, and allowed him to form alliances with some of today’s hottest producers.
His new alliance with MoJaz Productions has been able to elevate his music, and also garner interest from some of the major movers and shakers within the music industry. With this being said, stay tuned for the formal introduction of Benny. . . .he’ll be making good music.
Ask Benny what he’s passionate about and his answer is simply “music which fuels my passion for life”.
