About the Artist

Edgy New York based indie-rock artist Frank Palangi serves up a feeding frenzy of deep n gritty, raw powerhouse vocals while freshy fueling a bursting positive, energetic attitude. Living by his quote "No Plan B" he started out creating music back in 2006, just after leaving high school, he then began a career working as full time as a musician writing and releasing his first debut EP in 2011. Influenced by bands from the 80's (Metallica, Ozzy, Def Leppard, Megadeth), 90's (Creed, Godsmack), 2000's (Daughtry, Three Days Grace, Nickelback, Day Of Fire), his taste has developed with a clean image to rock n roll fusing with a post grunge sound. Grounded from a solid support system from his upbringing, his motivation is focused not by the temptations of partying every day and every night. From an early childhood he also learned to adapt to a chronic medical illness that impacted his lifestyle turning it around with what was considered a negative into a positive strength to keep on pushing toward his dreams. - " I have no plan b in backing down on my dreams".

Frank Palangi Finishing Debut EP by Mi2n.com
Solo Artist Frank Palangi is finishing his debut EP record in Nashville, TN with grammy nominated rock band Day Of Fire and Producer Rogers Masson in March/April of 2011. Josh Brown, former Full Devil Jacket singer, has helped him out with lyric sessions and gave Frank that first chance in March of last year when meeting at the local Northern Lights venue to forward music to his producer. Rogers recognized the talent Frank had to offer between song writing, music instrumentation, and look/style. Rogers says, “This is the baddest rhythm section in the land, and along with the vocal guidance of singer Josh Brown, Frank’s songs are going to turn out amazing.” Hollywood Producer David Snow has also critiqued Frank’s music, who talent roster of singles includes ones like Rick Martin and major/indie artists. Interview with musician, solo artist Frank Palangi by Pure Grain Audio
I recently had a chance to speak with modern rock artist Frank Palangi who will be releasing his self-titled EP on August 31st. The New York native weaves a tapestry of tunes that range from acoustic numbers to heavier, edgier rock and roll tunes. Here's what Palangi had to say. What can fans expect when they pick up a copy of your new self-titled EP? Frank: A new, modern rock sound that has a clean, positive message with energy. From catchy melodies, great arrangements, to thought-provoking lyrics. They will hear that this is my best work yet and get the sense of my original sound. A mainstream attitude with drive, will, and passion for the music. Are you satisfied with the overall outcome of the new record? Frank: I am very pleased with the way the EP came out. I wish I could have recorded all 5 tracks together in one session, but then I wouldn't have grown as an artist in between as well. I got to work with one of my influences, Day Of Fire Grammy nominated rock band and former Full Devil Jacket singer Josh Brown during the record and couldn't have worked out better. How long did it take to record? Frank:From planning in May 2010, recording 1st session in June in Nashville, TN at SoundStage Studios, to releasing the single in end of August. "I'm Waiting" to session number 2 in March 2011… about a year and a couple months. I was down in Nashville both times about a week at a time to get things done. You worked with Rogers Masson on this release. What was that like? Did he push you in new directions? Frank:Rogers was easygoing and great to work with. He has respect for the artist and their visions. This was my first time being in a professional recording studio and he helped me ease into things really well. I had a pre-planned sound that I hear in my head and a vision of what the tracks would come out to be. Together, we tried to achieve the best we could with our budgets and time. What's your musical background? Frank: Mostly the 80's metal/late 90's rock genre. Bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Ozzy, Def Leppard to Creed, Godsmack and to more modern acts like Three Days Grace, Day of Fire, Rev Theory. Times are tough these days. Do you have a job when you are not touring? Frank: Not really, my career and life is music. I do solo acoustic gigs on the side to make some extra money. I film weddings or events on the side as well here and there. Most of the time I'm very busy making new contacts, reaching out to the industry, getting radio interviews, looking for airplay on internet, local FM, national FM radio, booking companies, licensing. A bunch of different things. Without the internet, I wouldn't be anywhere. Do you have any rituals before you hit the stage? Frank: Not really. I try to drink a lot of water for the vocals, not be stressed, and take it a bit easy and then hit the stage and let out all the energy. Usually the band and I are setting up equipment and talking with people.

It was an experience he will never forget Frank says. "I never really went this far to make a record where I was flying around, being in a professional studio, and getting introduced the music industry. It's memories that I will never forget." It was Frank's first time working with a producer and really concentrating and honing in his craft to the next level. "Rogers Masson has helped my journey a lot to that first email and phone call saying Josh Brown heard my stuff with giving me that chance and couldn't wait to hear more to the thought of getting heard by the record industry. Frank hasn't looked to the mainstream side of things as hard as he is now. His hopes, dreams, will, and passion for his tremendous talent for a young man shows through in these tracks. He is sending the EP out to industry contacts, press, radio and etc. He has been receiving radio interviews and play on local FM, national internet and some FM. Its going to sound much like I’m repeating a past blog from this week, but only the first part. Frank Palangi is a solo artist from Upstate New York and as it states in his submission email he is very hardworking and trying to get his name out there. A recommendation on him comes from our friend Jason Saulnier over at Good Time Metal Oldies so we made sure to give it a listen. The part that sounds repetitive from earlier this week is this dude sounds in voice like Sully Erna of Godsmack. If this is his natural voice then its great and one hell of a coincidence. Where things are very different for us at We Love Metal is Frank gets play on Christian Rock Stations. Considering we covered “Cradle of Filth” yesterday this is quite a jump for all of us involved. Frank says he doesn’t want to be labelled and his music is based to just get a message out there. I have no issue looking past Religious overtones because its about the music for me, but I hope others can do the same because it really is solid Hard Rock. At the bottom of this blog you will find the new song “I’m Waiting” and if you head over to his myspace you can listen to all of his current music including my favorite “Feeling Alive.” Its a very hard rock edge with solid guitar work. Frank headed down to Nashville and started recording his new EP with the Grammy nominated band “Day of Fire.” I think this is going to be the true test for Frank. Two things that concern me. 1. Getting out of New York so people can see him and 2. Having the quality of the band High on Fire is hard to reproduce with a bunch of local guys on a county fair stage. Frank is going to have to get some solid guys behind him that have the talent and passion that he does or some really good expensive hired hands. The potential is immense and its going to be easier to talk about him once we hear the EP in full and see the direction of the new material. Frank also tends not to play bars because he feels people are often to drunk to enjoy the music properly. My message to that is don’t worry about that, even if you touch one person in the crowd and that person happens to be a big label it will all be worth it. Play every show, at any time, and let the world hear your music. I heard it and liked it. Thank you.
