JOANPi

JOANPi was born in Athens, Greece.

As a child, her love of art (especially music) was nurtured by her mother. She started learning (self-taught) keyboards at the age of nine; at the age of seventeen -just after finishing school- she started writing songs. She received training and completed a course in Music Technology in Athens (2000-2002), attended a Music & Media Management (BA) course in London (2004) and then returned to Greece to focus on songwriting and a career as a recording artist under the name JOANPi (2005). In 2006/2007, JOANPi entered various international songwriting competitions with her first complete song "A Day at the Beach" which stood out in the following categories:

Monthly Winner status (Electronica/Dance category) in Song of the Year,

Honorable Mention Winner (Instrumental-any style) in the 11th Annual Unisong International Song Contest,

Semi-Final position (Instrumental category)  in the 2007 UK Songwriting Contest.

She has self-released "This is JOANPi" - Edited Version, "Midnight" - Single (2007), "This is JOANPi" - Single (2012) via Tunecore, also various singles for free (fan exclusive) download: "Jimmy" (2008), "23" (2011), "23 pt.2" (2012), as well as "Find Yourself" and "Darker than Light" (2010) while grabbing the audience's attention on social networking services such as IAC, GarageBand, myspace, Purevolume, ursession, Ourstage and Reverbnation.

In 2009, JOANPi participated in the Reverbnation Sponsored Songs Program with Microsoft Windows as the sponsor, reaching over 800 downloads for the song "Midnight". This resulted in the following positions: #1 Hot Greek Act and #74 Hot Electronic/Dance Chart on 10th August (2009), following #2 Hot Electronic/Dance Chart on 12th March 2012.

Besides releasing her own material, JOANPi also enjoys remixing mostly via Indaba Music and participating in remix contests for acts such as Kosheen and Beyonce among others.
