I can’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t inspired by music. I was raised in a house where great music played loudly – the Beatles, James Taylor, Carole King, Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel. Ten years ago I believed I could make a career out of music and somewhere along the way, I stopped believing because it wasn’t “practical”. During the last two years, I’ve experienced the way life moves outside your control in a way that brings you to your knees. These changes have reminded me – life is short and spend your time (whenever possible) on the things that spark passion. I’ve been working hard to create pieces that inform, inspire and challenge me. I am inspired by artists that work within the framework of the music industry but have also chosen paths that allow them creative control – Jonatha Brooke, Over the Rhine, Ingrid Michaelson, Bon Iver (just to name a few). I write about what I know – life, love, loss, faith, fear, hope. Universal things that encourage us to move beyond just ourselves. I hope you can find something here that resonates with you too.
