Lisa Winship

Music is what feelings sound like.

I'm a singer/songwriter, currently exploring new avenues in composition and performance. Music is everything to me. I've been writing songs and playing piano since the age of 9. I write songs that come from the heart and hope that listeners can connect with the feelings and thoughts in the lyrics. I listen to lots of different types of music, so I have a lot of 'influences'. But I derive inspiration for my music from my experiences in life. What you hear is what I am.

I have a BTEC National Diploma in Music Practice, having studied at the Thames Valley University in Reading. During that time, I was in a band called Familiar Grounds. We took our unique funk-rock sound out on the road for a year or so and reached the South of England finals of Live and Unsigned 2010. I've also worked with a Reading-based ska band called The Skarlets.

More recent projects include working with a band called Bridge To Far and playing gigs with acoustic guitar maestro Andy Mathewson.
