Description
I wrote this for two friends of mine who are members of the LGBT community. I had heard the phrase "it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" one too many times from the mouths of bigoted rednecks and I felt I needed to even up the score. Turns out they were half right. It WAS Adam and Yves.
Lyrics
I suppose you’ll say, “It never happened; Not that way, I’m sure” There’s no way He would’ve planned for this - This terrible abomination Sweeping every nation This violet situation tugging at our fists Well let’s just check the roster At the Garden gate Somewhere around the beginning of the Word The editors were busy On the day they let this by And now the plot is getting more absurd But there never was a Hydra I never saw Hydra That didn’t make a twin. And while we’re talking body parts We fail to recognize Our bones are being victimized Our humanity’s being vandalized Bruised beyond recognition These emperors of flesh Are vilified and tried for pride and scandalized. But there never was a Hydra I never knew a Hydra That didn’t make a twin. And there are men Killing men For loving men Love is love Blood is blood What have we done? While we’re waxing hypothetic See the roster at the gate Forget your “good ole boy” aesthetic See who left and apple ate: “Adam and Yves”
