The sun begins to duck below the horizon as I pull into the driveway. It's been a long day... a long week. I decide to get a late night snack and a cold glass of orange juice. Just enough left for one more. The house is empty tonight. I just want a quiet evening in... no phone, no worries. The OJ is half gone before I slump down on the couch. Peace and quiet. I look down at the cushion next to me... the remote control... sitting there like it's been waiting for me since I left. Like a pet that you never have to feed. But something's... off. The buttons begin to vibrate intensely. The edges of my vision start to waver. I try to focus my attention on something else, but things at a distance look even worse. I feel panicked, yet I know I'm smiling... I go back to the kitchen. There's a note on the orange juice, but the letters are twisting in all directions. It's... pleasing... I'm drawn toward it; now barely able to see, I follow the sound... my hand guiding along the wall for support. A quiet night in... no worries...
