Description

Like a selection from the soundtrack of an ole "B" Western. The band nick-named this tune CW's "High Plains Drifter" song. It's a song about a wicked town that falls to it's own sins, when confronted by the truth. A bit dark for some tastes, perhaps. Got the idea from watching far too many talking heads selling "snake oil" to the people. Started writing lyrics and the story evolved. CW

Lyrics

SOMEWHERE, EAST OF PARADISE, WAS A WICKED LITTLE TOWN A LITTLE PLACE CALLED "EMPTINESS," WITH STREETS OF BAKED DRY GROUND. WHERE PEOPLE RARELY EVER SPOKE AND BACK-STABBING WAS THE GAME. HONEST MEN NEVER HAD A CHANCE AND THE BRAVE ONES ALL WERE SLAIN. IT WAS A SINNER'S PARADISE FOR TOO, TOO MANY YEARS. SHUTTERS DRAWN, DOORS LOCKED CLOSED, AND THE PEOPLE LIVED IN FEAR. THEN, ONE DAY, DOWN THAT DUSTY STREET THERE STRODE A SILENT MAN WHOSE FACE WAS ETCHED WITH GRIM RESOLVE TO MAKE A FINAL STAND.
