Description

Raw home video of me singing this new song (summer 2011). The song is dedicated to the victims of the Joplin tornado, which happened on May 22 of this year. Ironically, May 21 of this year was one of the happiest, most unbelievable days of my life. News of the Joplin tragedy was such a contrast.

Lyrics

Yesterday a tornado took a hundred lives Now this morning all is clear on satellite It was there and gone and tore the town apart A vapor that left a mark The people stand around and wonder why But they'll never know We like to think we are immune To the things that we know we can't change And everything we call "unchangeable" can be taken away. I didn't think they'd turn on me so suddenly When they always told me they were proud Their words a smokescreen till my mother left the ground I was stripped of my armor when they had no one they feared They might offend Now I'm the only woman left on earth The pariah, the black sheep of the herd, the runaway We like to think we are immune To the things that we know we can't change And everything we call "unchangeable" can be taken away By a tornado Or a phone call Or a betrayal Pain is common to us all. We like to think that we're immune To the things that we know we can't change And everything we call "unchangeable" can be taken away By a tornado Or a phone call Or a betrayal Pain is common to us all
