Hear My Daddy Pray

Duration

4:13

Genres

Christian

Description

Nobody could pray like my daddy, and I loved the way he’d use a certain tone in his voice that let you know he was getting through. Mom played the piano for every church service and she always sang in the choir. Dad and us five kids sat up front in the same spot so mom could come down to sit with us during the sermon and then sneak back up to play for the invitation hymn. Growing up going to Church every Sunday played a large part in making me who I am, and it was good to Hear My Daddy Pray.

Lyrics

Load up five kids in the car Off to the church we'd drive Sit in the same old pew every single time Sing and be sanctified Washed in Jesus blood Preacher gave the sermon straight from God above Mama she sang in the choir I loved to hear her sing And sometimes daddy gave the closing prayer on Sundays And we'd sing, "Just as I am without one plea" How I loved to hear my daddy pray My daddy always did his best to show us how to live And Mama stood right by him through thick and thin Of all the lessons I've learned there are some I won't forget Like Daddy growing old with nothing to regret 'Cause Mama she sang in the choir He loved to hear her sing And sometimes Daddy gave the closing prayer on Sundays And then we'd sing, "Just as I am without one plea" Oh, how I loved to hear my daddy pray Load up five kids in the car And off to the church we'd drive We sat in that same old pew every single time The things that we see and hear, they'll make us who we are And lifes been good to me really good so far 'Cause my mama she sang in the choir How I loved to hear her sing And sometimes Daddy gave the closing prayer on Sundays Then we'd sing, "Just as I am without one plea" And then I'd get to hear my daddy pray Mama she sang in the choir I loved to hear her sing And sometimes Daddy gave the closing prayer on Sundays And then we'd sing, "Just as I am without one plea" How I loved to hear my daddy pray
