Here it is in a nutshell. At the bottom of your profile page, you will see "Contest Rules". I quote from those Rules and Regulations.... "Entries must be the original work of the Entrant; must not infringe third-party rights; and may not contain any copyrighted works other than as owned by the Entrant." This clearly means NO cover songs. The only two channels that allow them are "cover bands" and "Holiday Songs". Have a great day, and I hope this clears things up for a lot of people.

You are miss-informed! This channel DOES NOT ALLOW COVER SONGS, people just keep doing it, and are just lucky not to get flagged - consider this your flag! It isn't fair to those of us that work hard to write our own music and try to promote it, to have to compete against songs that have already met world wide approval. There is a channel for covers, and that is where they belong!

I was not aware until recently that you could enter cover tunes in the Blues, Jazz and Bluegrass channels. Not sure if there are anymore.
