Description
This is not a song. Nonetheles it is part of the "Skyless Land" album, which tells the story of a man named Pharis who's part of a medieval society. This society thrives on the belief that innocent blood cleanses guilt. So, the members of the society that are deemed innocent by the authorities (the "authorities" being a dictator) are killed regularily. Carrying out these killings was Pharis' task, which he's abandoning in this dialogue with the dictator. The dictator is called "The Wisest".
Lyrics
PHARIS: [Enters] Wisest, WISEST: Yes, that I am. It is not like you, the Master of Sacrifices, to seek my guidance. Now tell me, what brings you here? PHARIS: I come with one question, and one question only. Why must some die while others live? WISEST: It is known in all the corners of the Earth: in order for one to live in atonement, one must die. You know this esspecialy, as the Master of Sacrifices. But, come now, I offer you no guidance in this. Why did you seek me? PHARIS: In my folly, I sought a man who could think and feel with compassion. Forgive my foolhardiness. WISEST: [Laughs] You are searching in the wrong world, it would seem, Master of Sacrifices. PHARIS: Then I will have no more of this world. You Shan't see me again. [Leaves] WISEST: I had already ensured that long before you came to me, fool.
