Description

This lyrically driven single was inspired by my drive across the United States when I moved from Los Angeles to Brooklyn, New York. I left a lot of things behind to meet the unknown and tried my best to capture that feeling of displacement and longing in this track. The song was recorded and produced in a small room in Santa Monica, California. We used Shure microphones, a macbook pro, a martin guitar, a vintage baby grand piano and a seventies Ludwig drum kit. Lyrics

God bless the raincoat and the woman who wore it And God bless the rain as it fell on her shoulders And God bless the taxi that let me hold her that night On these streets that I'm walking I feel a deep grieving That I never talk to her while she's sleeping But that doesn't stop me from hoping I'm in her dreams Where she leans in to hear Away from the thunder Some small distant voice That's about to go under And I make not a noise But I can't help but wonder If this is a dream And I'm deaf to the screams Ain't it funny how it seems to go around in circles Leave you dizzy and bruised your body black and purple Yet you go all in until you can't raise a thing God bless the raincoat and the woman who wore it And God bless the rain as it fell on her shoulders And God bless the taxi that let me hold her that night
