PlaySwann Song

by Chris Pureka

This is a song that I wrote about and from the perspective of my grandmother. It's based on her life story and in it I tried to capture her philosophy of enjoying and appreciating life despite its hardships.

"The album Dryland is the highly-anticipated follow-up to Pureka's 2004 debut, Driving North, for which the rising newcomer has landed praise from publications like Performing Songwriter, Time Out New York, Nashville City Paper and many others."

Chris - I am loving this song. It's my first taste of your music and it certainly makes me want to seek you out more. The guitar is so fluid, the tune catchy yet the lyrics and meaning bring a very creative and artistic undertone to the song. I look forward to hearing more!!!

So glad to see Chris is #1 in this contest. She deserves to be there for her guitar skills alone. With her ability to weave lyrics into the melody and equally moving vocals, she's the whole package. This song makes me think of my grandmother. I can see her little mannerisms in the ways she sings, "Yeah sure, yeah sure I've wished for things." Totally recalls the lingo of the era

Chris Pureka is amazing. I've had dryland and driving north for several months now and they do not come out of my cd players. I'm serious. Driving north is in my truck. I've switched it out maybe once for five mins. and it went immediately back in. Dryland is in my room, fall asleep to it every night, wake up to it every morning. Just amazing.
