It's started with a discussion on Youtube over what is appropriate to call the Historical Buddha of India (of about the 6th to 8 century BCE). One girl was loathing people of the Soka Gakkai for calling the historical Buddha of India Shakyamuni, when she insisted people should call him Gautama. And I said it doesn't matter what you call him; call him Jesus Christ, call him Mickey Mouse, but if you don't know that you are him and he is you, you are not practicing his true teaching.

As he wrote in his final teachings: "I made a great vow to make all people equal to me with no distinctions." The only thing he said to call him was "Awake" so they called him "Buddha" which means the awaken one.
