Description

This song is a lengthy progressive piece. It is part of the "Skyless Land" album, which tells the story of a man named Pharis who's part of a medieval society. This society thrives on the belief that innocent blood cleanses guilt. So, the members of the society that are deemed innocent by the authorities (the "authorities" being a dictator) are killed regularily. Carrying out these killings was Pharis' task, which he's abandoned. This song finishes the tale with Pharis' return to the city.

Lyrics

Now by his leaving, he is our guide, Since he has left us, we are alone, We wish to follow, but how can we, When we don’t know, Where you’ve gone, or if you’re alive, Pharis wait for us, Now by his leaving, he is our guide, Since he has left us, we are alone, I couldn’t stay away, I couldn’t keep my mouth closed, I couldn’t stay asleep at night, ‘Cause you needed to know I’m alive, Still, Don’t give up hope, When you see me coming, Don’t give up life, When you hear I failed, I left with only one purpose, And I come with only one message: Pharis lives and so do I, Live with us, break your bonds and fly, I know your form of life is empty, But I’ve searched the plains, And found them empty, Now I’ve come to comprehend, Can life in the city bend, And be something, We’re still alive, Don’t kill me tonight, Don’t kill me tonight, Looks like I’m here in time, Already have a sacrifice for tonight, At least I won’t die, I have to speak to her, Can’t just let her die instead of me, Delusional with pain, You try to say my name, All you can say, Is the name of another, Pharis, I came back for you, But where are you, I can’t find you anywhere, Face to face, With the thing I searched for, All this time for you Pharis, She’s here, Where are you, Where are you, You know she’ll die tonight, You’re nowhere in sight, And now I’m all there’s left, To save her, So listen now to me, people, I’ve heard your dirge in the night, I know you want to be free of violence, Now that we’re alive, You can hope for life, Tell me where will their armies be, If you all lay down your arms, Come live alive with me, Come live alive with me, Live life, Will be your last words, Pontius, Peacefully, Will be your dying whisper, No chance to cry for the maiden, His last words were life, he said, As they gave him death instead, He was a hero to the ones, Who mourned their brothers, And mothers, and fathers, and sisters, every day, He was the only one to say life instead, as he died, with proof, he claimed, Not far behind, Where’s Pharis, Look to the gate of the city to see, A broken man with a broken face, He heard the death of all he loved, From far away on the plains, Who would kill him, Now that he’s an image of freedom, But the zealous and the wisest, The evil, But now he just wants death, The martyr to end violence,
