Joe is the person you see in every town picking up cans, living in a box, riding a bike or pushing a cart. We fly by them in our SUV's and never take the time to wonder what their story might be.

Joe is two years older than me, we lived in the same little town but his family was poor so the Church gave them a place to live. We used to play together in this vacant lot behind the Cemetary and one day this kid was making fun of Joe so I pushed him down. He got up and gave me my first black-eye. (Chorus) He never did date he never did drive, but every year he buys a brand new Bike. Sells Mason shoes he'll mow your yard, clean your windshied, even wash your Car. Everybody knows Joe The night Joe graduated High School everybody in that stadium went crazy when Joe walked across the stage and got his diploma. Cause everybody there knew how hard he worked for it. But Joe's got something you can't buy, it's called determination, persistance and a whole lot of pride. He's kind of a local hero around here, everybody knows Joe. (Chorus) Maybe you've saw him on the side of the road somewhere. Peddling along with a basket full of what-ever and a plastic bag tied to his handle bars. Yeah that's ole Joe. He used to live with his momma till she past away then the Hospital came and took the House away to pay the medical bills. And since then, I don't think Joe's had a place to call home. (Chorus)
