This is the story of a man who has high ideals in the abstract when it comes to women. In reality, however, he will gladly rationalize acceptance of any woman who looks his way. Suddenly, he's focusing on her positives and rationalizing (and even adopting) those things he claimed to dislike. The broader message is about how desire trumps conviction. I'm just using this poor fellow to make that point. I hope.
