This song is about that "wishy washy" part of a relationship where you're trying to determine how far into it you are, versus the other person. Sooner or later, if you're both not in it for the long haul, someone's going to get hurt. It's that point when you realize that you might be falling for someone and they're hitting the brakes thsat this song explores. Tough stuff, but many of us have been there :)
