Description

The song 'Please Remember Me' is taken from a poem written by a soldier while serving in Khe Sanh, Vietnam 42 years ago. My dad was given the poem by a Vietnam Veteran while my dad was doing research on a book he wrote called 'V3'. The video submitted was filmed and edited by my dad for a short movie he is making called 'Hope for Chloe'. The video is about one third the length of the original song.

Lyrics

Please Remember Me Verse 1: You know last night while standing guard I thought I’d make a poem And tell it like it really is to all the folks back home. At home you walk down sidewalks or in a crowded mall, But here, brush on our jungle trails so thick we have to crawl. Back state side you have bridges to go across a river, While here in ‘Nam, we walk right in and when it’s cold we shiver. Chorus: You hear the good side of our battles, and enemies we kill, But you’ve never seen a buddy fall while charging up a hill. You folks have got it easy compared to us across the sea, But all any soldier asks of you is, “PLEASE REMEMBER ME” Verse 2: You’ve all got air conditioners to cool your shop or den, And over here it’s so damn hot we think its Hell we’re in. You have cold beer and water; you’ve got hot meals to eat, Any one of these, to us, would really be a treat. At home you take your wife or girl, go out and dance all night, But over here we stand our guard; sometimes we’re stiff with fright. Chorus: You hear the good side of our battles, and enemies we kill, But you’ve never seen a buddy fall while charging up a hill. You folks have got it easy compared to us across the sea, But all any soldier asks of you is, “PLEASE REMEMBER ME” Verse 3: And every day you take a walk down life’s easy path, But I’ll bet you’ve never had to go a month without a bath. To you a bath is water, hot enough to make some steam, To us it’s nothing more than a leech infested stream. You’ve no doubt been scared enough to think the end was near, But you’ve never had to live one whole year in fear.’ Chorus: You hear the good side of our battles, and enemies we kill, But you’ve never seen a buddy fall while charging up a hill. You folks have got it easy compared to us across the sea, But all any soldier asks of you is, “PLEASE REMEMBER ME”
